The brain trust charity

The Brain Trust Charity (BTCH) is dedicated to fostering mental literacy in disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. Mental literacy involves utilizing the brain to its fullest potential by enhancing crucial abilities like problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.

The Brain Trust Charity is especially committed to promoting memory training, enhancing memory power, and organizing memory championships. These initiatives are seen as pathways to creativity and are a primary focus of the charity’s founder, Tony Buzan.

Tony Buzan International

Tony Buzan International (TBI) was founded by Tony Buzan, the brilliant mind behind Mind Maps. Tony Buzan authored numerous bestsellers that have been translated into 45 languages, leaving a global impact before his passing in 2019.

 

Tony Buzan International proudly continues his legacy, offering Mind Mapping, Memory, and Speed Reading competitions and courses. These programs aim to empower individuals to unlock their full cognitive potential and carry forward Tony Buzan’s visionary work.

Nicolas Lisiak

President of the APAC (French charity for learning and the brain), Vice President of Tony Buzan International, Co-organizer of the World Championships (since 2020) for Speed Reading and Mind Mapping.

Passionate about continuous education. In 2017, he won the bronze medal at the World Speed Reading Championships (in Shenzhen, China) as well as at the Great Britain Speed Reading Championship (2019). Nicolas is the co-author of the book “Double Your Reading Speed in 30 Days” (Alisio editions, 2023). He is also the co-author of the first study in France on Speed Reading in the medical field.

Jerome Hoarau

Jerome Hoarau is an author, speaker, and international coach. He engages with businesses through conferences and workshops on future skills and the future of work. He is the co-founder of the World Association of Brain Athletes and earned the following titles in brain sports competitions:

  • 2018 World Champion in Mind Mapping
  • United Kingdom Champion in Mind Mapping
  • United Kingdom Runner-up in Speed Reading

Mehmet Tashanligil

Mehmet T. was graduated from Yeditepe University Management Information Systems Department. After graduation, he acquired his first venture by actualizing the concept that he experienced in America where he went after he completed his internship in Google in 2011-2012. 1.5 years later, he obtained his first capital by selling this venture to 10 times of its founding capital. He provides Speed Reading – Memory Trainings with the software systems he has developed.

He has received training from Tony Buzan -the inventor of Mind Maps and the founder of the World Memory Championship- and he is Senior Tony Buzan Licensed (TLI) instructor working for speed reading, memory techniques and mind maps. Mehmet Taşhanlıgil is also an instructor of 6 Countries Union of Municipalities.

Raymond Keene

He is an English chess grandmaster, a FIDE International Arbiter, a chess organiser, and a journalist and author. He won the British Chess Championship in 1971 and was the first player from England to earn a Grandmaster norm, in 1974. In 1976, he became the second Englishman (following Tony Miles) to be awarded the Grandmaster title, and he was the second British chess player to beat an incumbent World Chess Champion (following Jonathan Penrose’s defeat of Mikhail Tal in 1961). He represented England in eight Chess Olympiads.

 

Keene retired from competitive play in 1986 at the age of thirty-eight and is now better known as a chess organiser, columnist and author. He was involved in organising the 1986, 1993 and 2000 World Chess Championships; and the 1997, 1998 and 1999 Mind Sports Olympiads; all held in London. He was the chess correspondent of The Times from 1985 to November 2019, and is a prolific author, having written over 200 books on chess and mind games. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to chess in the 1985 Birthday Honours.
